IMPACT actually has multiple mapping/GIS products depending upon the actual needs of the client. CAD Mapping (MCAD) is a specific portion of the mapping/GIS tool that provides the ability to dispatch directly from the map. When used in conjunction with AMO and AVL, this product becomes an interactive method of dispatching directly from the map display itself. Maps will display the location and movement of all equipped vehicles (vehicle status is color-coded for easy recognition). Calls for Service (E911) are automatically displayed on the map along with the current location of vehicles in service allowing the dispatcher to visually “see” available units, those in closest proximity and the area surrounding the event location. This provides invaluable command during emergencies (hostage situations, major emergencies, accidents, etc.).
